Impact Stories in Guatemala

Samaritan’s Feet is honored to partner with Food for the Poor, an organization that works extensively in Latin America and the Caribbean. In June 2021, Samaritan’s Feet sent a container of 15,000 pairs of shoes to Guatemala via Food for the Poor. Below, you’ll read about two children who received shoes from this shipment and what it meant to them.

Cristina

Nine-year-old Cristina entered a children’s home in Guatemala in July 2021. She came from very bad living conditions, an alcoholic mother and strained relationships with her siblings. Cristina does not know who her father is and was also sexually abused by her grandfather. The donation of shoes meant so much to Cristina because in her family’s home, she walked barefoot most of the time causing her to have fungi on her feet. To have new shoes made Cristina so happy!

Maria

Maria is 14 years old and entered a children’s home in Guatemala in June 2021. She was living in a difficult and dangerous environment where Maria was being led into prostitution. The new pair of shoes have especially helped Maria, as she owned only one pair of shoes. Maria is so thankful and happy to now have shoes that she can wear in the home. This generous gift also helps the entire children’s home economically because money that would have been used to buy shoes, can now be used to buy other vital supplies for the home.
