Q&A with Hayden Grover

Hayden is the Volunteer Coordinator for the warehouse at our international headquarters. She’s new to the team and we wanted to make sure you got to know her!

Share a little bit about what a day at Samaritan’s Feet looks like for you.

I spend the morning prepping the volunteer space for each group. It’s a unique experience serving with such a diverse population, so every day I keep in mind who’s coming and what they may prefer, and I make sure the space fits them. Everything is important—music, accommodating their ability to stand or lift things, etc. We make sure all groups have access to volunteering with us, so, being able to mold the space to fit all is very important. After that’s set, my time is spent chasing down volunteer groups!

What's your favorite part about working at Samaritan’s Feet?

I adore who I work with. It’s not every day you get to work with such a dedicated team of creative individuals. We are a team of crazy, hardworking individuals who just get things done and back each other up on it. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with the whole team.

What’s your favorite memory leading and/or serving with Samaritan’s Feet?

For my favorite moment, I have to give a big shout out to Jinelle Davis and her friends with down syndrome who spent time with us during their “Get Down with Giving Back!” They ended up spending a ton of time with us afterwards and each time, it just felt more and more special. I have been very lucky to work with these beautiful women.

Describe how what you do in the warehouse impacts the overall mission of Samaritan’s Feet.

We’re the only warehouse for all of Samaritan’s Feet. I tell volunteers that every day. We’re the last ones to touch the shoes before they’re sealed and shipped. We’re the last ones to have a hand in the bag that we give to a child in need. What we do is vital to the organization’s ability to make an impact and it’s kind of special that we’re the ones who make it happen every day.
