A Moment in Dayton

There were many heartwarming moments at a distribution in Dayton, Ohio. The event was sponsored by Molina Healthcare and the men’s basketball team from Wright State University served at the special event. Many families were served and even some of the moms expressed their heartfelt gratitude as they did not expect to receive shoes from themselves.

But here’s one specific moment from a child we wanted to share:

A little girl sat down in front of us. She had on velcro shoes. We brought of her new athletic shoes and they had shoelaces, meaning they had to be tied. She looked up at the volunteer sitting in front of her upon seeing that and asked if they could teach her to tie her new shoes. OVer the next 10 minutes or so, the volunteer spent time sitting on the floor with her and teaching her how to tie her shoes. The little girl was beaming with pride upon learning how to do this.
