Behind-the-Scenes in Charlotte

Due to a shipment to South Africa being held up at customs, the Samaritan’s Feet team was just short of hitting the 10 million mark by the October 20 deadline. So on October 19, the Charlotte-based team sprung into action to get about 1,000 pairs of shoes out and it ended up being a very special day. This was technically the last shipment of shoes that went out in the United State before hitting the 10 million mark in South Africa. We’ll share more of the story of this last shipment later, but wanted to share a few pictures and what the Warehouse Manager Steve had to say about the day:

After much discussion and consulting with two other team members, Meka and Deb, about some donation possibilities, we were able to immediately donate over 500 pairs of shoes to the Charlotte Salvation Army and 600 pairs of baby-sized shoes to the Charlotte Ronald McDonald House.

I delivered the baby shoes to the Ronald McDonald House and they were so happy to receive them. I have since learned that they may use them for Christmas gifts in some way.

The Salvation Army sent a driver to our facility to pick up the 500 pairs of Dr. Comfort shoes. We all put on Samaritan’s Feet 10 million t-shirts and took pictures. Another warehouse associate, Jimmy, loaded the truck with pallets. I explained to the truck driver what we were doing, and he decided to join right in the conversation and pose in the group picture with us.

What could have been a stressful situation turned into a team effort and we all had fun doing it!
