An Athlete’s Heart
Samaritan’s Feet is privileged to work with college athletes across the country. Liberty University soccer team member, Luke Eberle, is just one of our NIL players and had an event in their school’s town of Lynchburg, VA to serve 300 students. Check out how one Samaritan’s Feet team member summarized the event:
NIL athlete Luke Eberle arrived at RS Payne Elementary School for their shoe distribution event. The excitement was palpable as they set up tables of brand new shoes in a variety of sizes and styles.
The Liberty University athletes, who had volunteered to help out with the event, were buzzing with energy and ready to make a difference in the community. They wore their school colors proudly and greeted the children with big smiles and high-fives as they arrived.
As the distribution began, the athletes helped each child find the perfect pair of shoes that fit just right. Some children had never owned a brand new pair of shoes before, and the joy on their faces was heartwarming.
But the event was more than just about handing out shoes. The Liberty University athletes had also organized games and activities for the children to participate in, from relay races to multiple sports activities. And in between the fun, the athletes took the time to talk to the children and sign autographs, inspiring them to dream big and chase their goals.
As the event came to a close, the Liberty University athletes were exhausted, but elated. They had given back to the community and made a real impact in the lives of these children.
Luke Eberle summed it up best. "It's not just about giving out shoes," he said. "It's about showing these kids that we care and that we believe in them. That's what really matters."
