UCA Athletes Encourage Young Minds
Several University of Central Arkansas (UCA) student-athletes (including players from football, soccer, volleyball, and more) helped at a special shoe distribution event for an elementary school, where they went above and beyond by spending time mentoring and coaching children in need after their parent-teacher conferences.
These kids needed more than just academic support; they needed encouragement and a boost in self-esteem. That's where our athletes stepped in. Led by the women's soccer team, these individuals took it upon themselves to inspire these young minds.
The soccer team didn't just offer words of encouragement; they got hands-on. They had the kids try on their shoes and take a quick jog back and forth, all while instilling in them the belief that they could achieve anything they set their minds to. It was a demonstration of compassion and leadership that left a lasting impact.
One particular interaction stood out among the rest. A fourth-grade girl, visiting with the women's soccer team, expressed her dream of owning a hospital one day to provide care for those who couldn't afford to see a doctor. This heartfelt dream moved the student-athletes deeply.
The dedication and empathy displayed by these UCA athletes go beyond what's typically seen in college sports. They exemplify what it means to be servant leaders, showing that success isn't just measured by victories on the field, but by the positive impact we can have on others.
